Call for Participation: CALA Southeast Chapter Fall Program

The CALA Southeast Chapter officers have been discussing this fall’s programing and the following themes have been proposed:

1) Visiting a Library, a Museum or a Cultural Institution in Your City

2) Discovering Chinese Treasures in Your Local Libraries and Museums

The Southeast Chapter has 7 states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Members within driving distance of each other can choose a place to visit, mingle and socialize, and also have some programs (if so desired). It can be organized as a social event and/or a more formal program with presentations. Event photos and programs can be shared on CALA’s Facebook, CALA Academic Resources & Repository System (CALASYS) and our Chapter’s website. Please contact one of the following officers if you wish to join the event:

Florida: Sai Deng (saideng@gmail.com), Wenxian Zhang (wzhang@rollins.edu), Co-Coordinators/hosts, Orlando, FL

Georgia: Ximin Mi (ximinmi@gmail.com), Xue Li (yli3@fsu.edu), Co-Coordinators/hosts, Atlanta, GA (*Member in northern FL can ride with Xue to join the Georgia program)

Alabama/ Mississippi: Mu Peng (pmu@samford.edu), host, Birmingham, AL (*also looking for a co-coordinator)

North Carolina/ South Carolina/ Tennessee: we’re looking for one or two members who’re willing to host/coordinate (*members in Tennessee can join either the Carolina or the Alabama program)

Members can choose cities which are closest to them. Officers will reach out to the members in their areas, and members are encouraged to check to see who else is in their cities or states. The events can be held any time this fall: September, October or November. The Chapter also plans to have an online conference all together next spring.
